The Kamino-cloner car we showed you earlier is one of a few Suzuki concepts we'll be seeing first-hand later this month at the Tokyo Auto Show. A second concept car to see the sheets drop from atop it is the Suzuki X-HEAD concept car. its' like a mix between a Hummer, an El Camino and umm — a Tonka truck? X-HEAD "X-HEAD" is " the cross utility vehicle " of the new genre which brings the various values which until recently are not. I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking, “I really wish I could get a car as odd-looking, frail and evil-handling as the classic BMW Isetta, but with all the drawbacks of electric power!”.Well, friends, have we got the Vietnamese cars for you! Harrington Group, makers of assorted oddball reproduction parts (P1800 bumpers, 2CV interior kits), has put together the first example of what they’re calling a Harrington BB. And while it may look like an Isetta - exactly like an Isetta, including the plaid interior - it is, in fact, a completely new car from the ground up, with rack-and-pinion steering, steel tube chassis and four wheel hub electric motors. The BMW genes go deep, however, and it sports the Isetta’s white wheel and single dial control panel, and woeful swing axle rear suspension. According to Harrington, they’re aiming for a (faster) production version for 2009; a hybrid; and assorted other electric 3- and 4-wheelers. Electric Henkel, anyone?

I know there are Solar powered car, but solar and wind powered? Hmm…that seems odd. This golf cart looking car is the self powered Venturi Eclectic. It is powered by a 22hp electric motor charged by solar cells mounted on its roof. So where does wind powere come in? There is a force wheel that rotates by sheer wind power. It looks like your average wind turbine and it also charges the battery. A full day of wind charging can power this car for about 15km. No sun and no wind? No problem, just plug it into a mains unit at home. A completely charged NiMH battery provides a range of about 50km and allows the car to reach speeds of 50km/h. Not bad. Great for driving around the neighborhood or passing by a near grocery store.This will go into production in June 2007 and will cost about 24,000 euros

Tokyo, Japan — One of the many concept cars being readied for the Tokyo Motor Show in Japan is this iPod-inspired vehicle. With a design that's best described as odd and/or bulbous, it features accelerator and brake pedals embossed withaudio player symbols: fast-forward and stop. According to Nissan, the Pivo 2 is an advanced electric concept car that builds on the popularity of the first Pivo, which was shown at the 2005 Tokyo Motor Show. Power comes from environmentally friendly compact lithium-ion batteries. More of an entertaining way of transport than a traditional car, it even features a "highly innovative Robotic Agent". Drivers will never be lonely again, as the robotic companion can converse in both Japanese and English dialects, and was created to make journeys less stressful. The robotic agent is also instrumental in operating the cars functions, from heating and cooling to navigation. The entire front end of the car opens up via a large door to allow the driver and his two passengers access, and because it features a rotating cabin (the entire cabin can swivel 360 degrees) there is no need for a reverse gear. The vehicle is made even more nimble thanks to four wheels. Each of the four wheels are powered by advanced electric in-wheel '3D Motors', which can then swivel 90 degrees allowing the Pivo 2 to drive sideways as well as forward.
